When customers are shopping for a new thermal fluid heater for their facility, one of the most important questions to ask the industrial heating manufacturer is:
“Is there a warranty on the heating equipment I purchase?”
Industrial heating equipment is an investment, and if you’ve ever had your plant shutdown due to a heating equipment outage or repair, you know just how much it costs you in downtime and lost productivity to be without a heater.
That’s why understanding the lifespan of your heater and the warranty that comes with it is so important when deciding on an industrial heating equipment manufacturer.
Below, we delve into the details of what you need to know about heating equipment warranties, overview the what and why of American Heating Company’s warranty, and explain why our innovative heater design will last you longer than most of our competitor’s warranties.
What is the Warranty on American Heating Company Heaters?
The short answer is that the standard warranty on all American Heating Company industrial equipment is 1 year.
The reason behind that decision is that the component manufacturers that we utilize for our heaters only provide a 1 year warranty on their parts. These warranties are determined by Honeywell controllers, IC burners, all the components in the panel, Dean Pumps, etc. and we are unable to change them.
However, the heating aspect of our heaters – the heating coils – will last customers around 30 years.
When it comes to warranties, what many consumers don’t realize is that the lifespan of your heating coils is the truer metric to look at. In other words, just because a heating equipment manufacturer offers a longer warranty doesn’t necessarily mean your heater will last longer.
The Truth Other Manufacturers Don’t Want You To Know About Their Industrial Equipment Warranties
Many heating equipment manufacturers provide the same 1-year warranty that we do, but throw in an extra “coil warranty” that only covers the heating coil. This separate warranty typically applies for anywhere from 2 to 5 years, and does not apply to the heater’s other components.
While this sounds like a good deal, in reality it is not. Manufacturers actually do this to avoid issue when the coils go out after 5 years. They draw you in with a warranty up front, knowing that the warranty on the coils will likely have expired by the time that a coil repair or replacement is needed. This leaves the customer responsible for the expense of replacing the coil.
Though it may sound like they are providing you with an extra warranty beyond what other manufacturers might offer, in reality they are shedding liability for the repairs you’ll ultimately need (and likely profiting from the purchase of new coils you’re forced to make after the warranty is up.)
Why Our Serpentine Coil Thermal Fluid Heaters Outlive Traditional Helical Coil Heaters
Don’t be fooled by helical coil heater manufacturers who advertise a warranty of 2-5 years! Coils in heaters should last much longer than that, but it’s common for helical coils to fail and require repair or replacement after 5 years. This means that the longer warranties provided by some helical coil heater manufacturers are actually set up to fail!
These heater manufacturers will love receiving your coil replacement order right after the warranty expires and the coils start to have issues.
This isn’t the case with our serpentine coil heaters. As we mentioned previously, it’s the lifespan of your heating coils (NOT the length of the warranty) that is the truer gauge of how long your heater will last. And our high efficiency thermal fluid heaters feature coils that operate flawlessly for decades.
The innovative design of our serpentine coil heaters extends coil life by lowering flux rates, increasing combustion volume, reducing volumetric heat release, and increasing corrosion allowance. These features make our heaters efficient, cost-effective, and some of the longest lasting on the market, with many of our heaters lasting upwards of 30 years. We’re proud to offer reliable, long-lasting hot oil heaters that keep our customers’ operations running smoothly and efficiently for years to come.
